yarler.website cool links

this page is super under construction - in the future it will link to sites our friends have made and their bands and podcasts and other cool stuff you will probably like if you like yarler even a little bit (we will not be linking to social media pages though when possible, this is a social media-free zone). it is extremely bad form to be like "under construction" or "big things coming soon" (like literally never tease "big things coming soon" unless you have massive organic reach and the big things are actually finished already) but there is at least some content here like:

here are all of our individual pages on discogs! there's a page for rex, there's a page for jake, and there's a page for jimmy! there's a lot of overlap between all of the pages - we've been doing this music shit together for like half of our lives and i think we're pretty alright at it. since you're on this website there's a good chance you've even heard of some of our old bands before - i'm not going to directly link to it, i'm making you do homework now, but one of those bands's discographies has an average rating of 4.2 on rateyourmusic! we are not really numerical ratings people but we hope to one day surpass that with this band. one of our old bands made it onto a compilation of rare punk from texas and louisana and seeing that was one of the neatest feelings ever.

both of the shows we've played at the time of this writing were at anime conventions (shout out ba-con, run by our long-time friends and collaborators bacon and andrew), so there's also a good chance you're here and you like anime. rex runs a blog called beyond electric sheep that is mostly a dumping ground for his hideaki anno brainrot but sometimes he writes about other things too, mostly mech-related because he's a giant robot sicko. it's all extensively well-researched, lengthy stuff with disgusting amounts of supplemental material.

our friend tony who we grew up with but lives in portland (and was also the second person to subscribe to our newsletter lol) is in an extremely cool post-metal band called sea sleeper! you should check them out if you like that sort of thing! we played in bands with him too when we were younger (carpet car city forever) and he is ridiculously good at guitar and also writing songs.

more friend bands! i would be completely remiss if i did not mention what?!, which is like the legendary band of our friends group. our friend albert fronted it/wrote most of the songs and a lot of our other friends (including tony, who we just mentioned, and also rex from our band) played on some of their stuff. it is the wildest shit - like i can't even describe it with words, you just need to listen to it. their christmas album is a must listen and "waste" from the what songs ep got covered a lot by various other bands we've all been in through the years. i want a new what?! album so bad (also yarler fact: at one point albert was going to be in our band but then he moved - he slaps at tuba and is an incredible lyricist!).

we have played several shows with oni mellow now and you should check out their stuff - a lot poppier than the other stuff linked here so far but it's also so so so so very good and the live shows are incredible too, just like immaculate vibes and a fun crowd.

again this is heavily under construction, we have so much more to link here.

if you're from houston and you don't know ktru fuck you. i mean, not really fuck you, that was mean and i don't wanna gatekeep here but you should familiarize yourself with them for sure. our growth as both musicians and people over the years is intricately tied to this radio station in various ways.
